Can you cross bred 2 different speices of quail?

Ok so I was wondering if its possible to cross chinese on quail with a japanese quail? I love the wee chinese on quail but I want to develop a bigger strain for my own personal perpose. So I was thinking of putting a Male Chinese on quail with a few Japanese quail hens to see if anything happans? Has this been done before and is thi a good mix or would it be better to cross them with another breed of quail?
