Why is it choppy when i play my dvd's after burning a dvd using nero?

i used to watch dvd's using my laptop... but few days ago,after i burn a dvd using nero, i played the dvd using wmp,nero show time or even windvd bur all ived seen was a choppy video and the sounds were choppy too.. i even played my other dvd's on my laptop but i still got the same results.. (this is my 1st time to burn dvd using nero..).. then i try to play the dvd's on the t.v. using my sonydvd player and it works fine,it plays smoothly...the only problem is when i play the dvd's on my computer... i want to watch movies on my laptop,so i can watch anywhere.. pls...help... thanks guys...
