erfly knife (balisong) legality?

In Tennessee they used to consider erfly knives to be automatic knives but recently they changed the language and added "a erfly knife is not an automatic knife." which made erfly knives legal in TN. NC's laws are crazy so I have no idea. Pretty much any knife besides an automatic is legal to own, but not carry.
